Frank Daryl Tanana is a former professional left-handed American baseball player. During the professional baseball career that spanned from 1973 to 1993, he played for the California Angels, Boston Red Sox, Texas Rangers, Detroit Tigers, New York Mets and New York Yankees. He had 2,773 shots in his career and won the playoffs twice for the teams he joined, the 1979 Angel and the 1987 Tigers. Raised northwest of Detroit, Tanana was taken over by the Angels in the first round in 1971. He made his team debut in 1973 and won 14 games in his rookie year. Tanana and compatriot Nolan Ryan are one of baseball's toughest starting pitchers. Tanana led the AHL in strikes in 1975, then became the AL's All-Star team for three consecutive years. He won 19 games in 1976 and led AL with an average run of 2.54 in 1977. In 1979, he won the match with a place in the Angels' first playoff game.
